Paati: Mirror image.

These photographs were taken in March 2014 during one of the pre-wedding ceremonies during my brother's wedding, at home. 

Paati in Tamil refers to grandmother. The Paati in the photographs is my paternal grandmother.

and I wish I could have come with a better blog post title. Sitting, waiting, wishing wasn't getting me anywhere and I had abandoned this blog for far too long. 

One Of Those Days.

Last Sunday. Whatte pretty pretty evening it was! Of course, ideally I should have kept my camera away and just stared at the sky and the hues and the rainbows while taking in the breeze and listening to songs like Iktara. But I had not touched my camera in such a long long time and since I'm in the middle of my final exams, I really have stopped needing reason to slack. Unfortunately. But the weather asked for it, just one of those days.

Some Billion Rising.

On 14th February, 2013, I went to Jantar Mantar to witness the power of One Billion Rising.

Its a movement for women, calling for justice, gender equality and an end to violence against women. Billion here refers to the statistic that one in three women will be raped or beaten in their lifetime...

Kamla Bhasin Ma'am is the South Asia coordinator for the movement, leading activist and founder of Jagori

I realise that the quality of the above photo is not good - but for me, personally, there seems to be a spirit about this photo. That reflects part of what OBR stands for.
